The last week has flown by with a nice mix of work at the Jam factory and other activities. On Monday we visited Nick Mount’s studio. After a very productive morning at the Jam factory, he invited us over. His workshop is split up in to several small huts in his garden, and includes an open air sander. On the way to his place, we made a short detour to visit Eamonn Verekers little studio. And on our way back we stopped by the Art Images gallery, which represents several of Adelaide’s glass artists, many of whom are seen regularly at the Jam factory. On Tuesday we made a trip to the coast for a pleasant walk followed by a slap-up meal and coffee stop by Ikea, which was conveniently on the way. Wednesday was a big day for the Weiberwalz, as we were giving a presentation.

We tried to explain about our adventures in an animated way. However during our rehearsals we realised that it would be best to keep things short and that summing up everything would simply take too long. On Thursday the apprentices who are to leave next week, exhibited their pieces; George Agius with his ‘glass-breakfast’, Llewelyn Ash with engraved pieces inspired by nature and Liam Fleming, with a cowbell installation. Finally on Friday there was a Christmas party with lots of games.

In between times we helped pouring glass into the star shaped moulds, made bottles for oil and vinegar, assisted several artists and passed on our knowledge about the tradition of blowing into moulds. This is something we learned at glass school and as some people here are rediscovering this previously snubbed technique which is rarely used here, they were happy to receive some tips.
